Watt,

Your opinion of the M5 may change after you drive mine soon.

I just got it back from SP Engineering with all the goodies slapped on it.

It's not a Porsche, but honestly, I was carrying speeds around corners about as fast or faster than the C4S I was driving, while going up Piuma tonight.

Not bad for a 4 door sedan. So my vote for best 4 door is still the M5.

tyson,
your car is not stock, eh???? i believe you changed the suspension? and no comment on c4S.
for a sporting 4 door, yes m5 seems best altho' the old e55 was darn good, i had one. but why bother? i know you want to sport when you may have to carry 4 people? do you really do that?

FWIW, in my opinion the Cayenne Turbo handles as well as my M5 did.

I'm with Watt though, the big cars, due to their weight, ultimately are cumbersome and lumbering in corners.

Tyson, when you get your GT3 we'll be anxious to hear how often you use the M5 for "spirited" driving.

Watt,

BTW, I think it's good to teach Wiley safety at an early age. It's the most important thing when driving these roads. I had to learn the hard way, although thank God not too hard.

Did I ever mention to you that I hate my ****ing neighbors? Some liberal bitch living next door threatened to call the cops on me for driving too fast through our neighborhood. I told her she can kiss my *** and then some.

The M5 is not stock. It now has AC Schnitzer swaybars with double reinforced brackets, short shifter, and most importantly the DFC (damper force control) suspension. It enables you to have 3 different damper settings for varying levels of stiffness. It literally gives the car 3 personalities. The car feels about 500 lbs. lighter now, not kidding. The only problem is that the car corners so flat now that the rest of the car is playing "catch up" with it.

I also had a W210 E55 and to be honest I think it handled like ****. Way too much body roll to the point where my passengers were getting sick everytime I would go up or down the canyon. The M5 is way way way tighter than the E55, no comparison.

With this new suspension, it's on another level. I swear to you it handles about as well or a little better than a stock E46 M3. It still rides very nicely as well.

Colm, I would not be surprised if the Cayenne Turbo handles almost as well as a stock M5. I have ridden in the Cayenne and I think it is very nice. I just hate the way it looks.

The GT3 will obviously be the king for canyon slamming. But on some days you just want a nice 4-door with a real trunk (you know, for trips to Costco) to lug things and people around or a comfortable cruiser for a long trip. On those days, I still want good handling, so that's why I will keep both.

Tyson,

As far as the Cayenne TT is concerned, when you're driving it...you're not looking at it!

The more I think about it the better I like it.

I dare you to drive and not be impressed versus the M5, modified suspension and all. Plus, you could buy more at Costco.

I'll take that dare. Perhaps I'll go test drive one at a local dealer soon. No way your Cayenne TT will outdo my M5 in its current form in the canyons.

But your right, I could buy more at Costco, although it could arguably make it a much more expensive proposition (because I'd buy more at Costco).
