Post 100 octane in W. LA

Hi, this is my first time posting in here.
I just like to let you guys know that there's a 100 octane pump in West Los Angeles's 76 gas station. It's located on Pico, a little bit to the east of Bundy, which is very close to the intersection of Pico and Barrington.
I am not sure if someone has pointed this out in the previous posts. Anyhow, just like to share this information with you guys.

Also one on West Channel Road in Santa Monica Canyon, right where 7th becomes W. Channel.

Different types of racing fuel there!

Cydog, where in Bwood are you? My office is in Brentwood on San Vicente and Barrington.

I filed up at the Bundy/Pico 76 Station on Tuesday. There ar a few different 76 Stations in So. Cal. that sell 100 octane fuel. You can find them using the store locator function on the 76 station website (www.76.com or www.circlek.com). Just check the box for racing fuel.

There are two Alliance Stations in the San Fernando Valley (Sherman Way at Woodly, and De Soto at Van Owen) that sell 101 octane fuel. Moreover, whereas 76 stations sell 100 octane for $5.50-6.50 per gallon, the Alliance stations sell their 101 for $4.00-4.25. Does anyone know of any Alliance stations selling 101 octane other than the two mentioned above?

Century City office here. There are many turbo owners working on the westside. We should meet for lunch one of these days.

I'm not aware of any direct comparisons done with 996TTs or GT2s. However, 996TTs (and presumably GT2s as well) are tuned from the factory for 93 octance fuel, and the ECU detunes the car (retards the timing) for anything less than 93 octane.

I seem to recall reading about test results showing up to a 5% loss of hp for a BMW (I think it was a BMW) using 91 rather than 93 octane (the BMW was also tuned for 93). If a 996TT were to experience the same 5% power loss when using 91 octane, that would translate to over a 20 hp reduction.

Would that gas be OK on a normal 02 996 turbo? I know a gas station in the Roswell, GA area that sells it. If anyone from this are is interested please ask me.

Most people who have filled up with 100 octane before some of our drives seem to think the car runs better, stronger, and throttle response is improved.

Who knows if it's more psychological, but I think especially on a Turbo car the computer (depending on what your specific program looks like) may be using a more aggressive fuel curve, which may allow it to run slightly more boost. I don't know if the factory computer is adaptive like that, but I think some of the custom ones are.

Craig, we should definitely all get together for lunch, I know Watt and Jack are also close by.

PS-- How about another canyon run next month?
