What's the normal tire wear and tear?
I'm approaching 9,000 mi and my dealer recommends a tire change. This seems a bit early to me. What's you experience? Thx

9K is not bad for rears.... Depends on your driving habits how long rubber lasts...

Dealer was just recommending a change for the rears, so I guess he's dead right.
Tom, they're the stock tires, not sure what make/model off hand, so I'll get back to you. GBG

I just got a set of 4 PS2's from Tirerack yesterday via UPS... I figured with all the posts in the past month or so about the lack of the 19 inch rears availability that with my luck I would run over something, need a new tire and not be able to find one... Now all I have to do is go to my storage unit...

I easily got 15,000 from my Cont's, but that was almost no track use. They are a compromised tire, better for highway than track, but good in foul conditions just short of needing the snows. Will you drive your car thru the winter? AS

Good at onset, fairly noisy at mid-wear point. Not as bad as original Pirellis (which were a bad tire all around, except surprisingly good in snow-go figure). There aren't many side-sipes in the Conti, and I understand that a large component of tire noise is due to trapped air in the sipes.

I replaced my rears after 14K miles. Almost all highway driving, no track time. My fronts have 18K on them now and still look to be in good shape, maybe another 6 to 8K left on them.

check the inner tread line of your rears. because of the camber, the inside tends to wear out much quicker than the outside. so it may "appear" that your tread is fine until you inspect the inside tread lines.
so on that note, is it possible to just remount your current tires on opposite wheels(as long as they are not required to be a certain side out). unidirectional does not matter. turn a 10K mile tire into a 15K mile tire pretty easy?
