TT or C4S?

TT or C4S?
Hi.
i have been looking around for a 911 for a while, i really liked the 997S, but i think it is a bit above my budget now so i am looking for a 03-04 C4S. I noticed on Ebay that prices of the 01 TT is dropping (as discussed in other thread, some are in the low 60s) and i started looking at other places and i also found couple 01 TT on the mid 60s.
My question is, is there any particular problem with the 01 TT? since it is the 1st year model. can you buy additional warranty from porsche if the original CPO 6 years expired?
also, do you guys prefer the 01 TT instead of the 03-04 C4S? any feedback would be apreciated.
Thanks

1.) no signif issues with 01s......they are fine
2.) re-warranty at this point......tough if not impossible
3.) C4S.....Turbo board here so lots will say 'go Turbo' but I will tell you it's very subjective.........do yourself a favor, drive both. They are very different cars. Being a 'Turbo' does not make it 'better' for you and your use.
Good luck with your shopping.......fun in the process

Alot of us have all gone through the EXACT same thought process. Obviously we chose the turbo but most for different reasons. I can only give my reason. Horsepower. You are looking at two near identical cars one with 420-450 the other with close to 100 hp less. But same weight. So you can do the math and come to the same conclusions that we have.
good luck!!

See.........I told ya it would be hard to find a discouraging word over here
Let me give you a couple things (my turbo brethren will not tell you, or necessarily agree with )
Around town, some people find the a normally aspirated 911 a more 'pleasant' drive.
The C4s has a taller 1st gear (granted, all on this board have become adept at shifting smoothly to 2nd in the 1st few hundred feet .
The Turbo clutch has the most power assist (very light travel) of the entire Pcar family & has more of that travel than some really like.
If you are a 'throttle blipper' of old and you buy an unmodded TT, the e-gas link to the ponies behind you may be a tad disapointing....at 1st.
OK........if you'll excuse me, I need to get in here now.
Wait....maybe this will redeem me......I am not a fan of the M96 engine, no matter what skin you put over it......but yrs later, gotta say many are still runnin so guess they weren't quite as cheep as I thought they were.

my only concern is because if i get the 01 TT, i will most likely have no warranty. And i am very concerned by that as i do not want to pay expensive maintanance. Any problem i should be aware of? is the TT just as good in case of snow?

snow is tire & wheel thing......not car model thing.......Turbos (and C4s) are great in snow (with right shoes which are definately not OE Zs)
a few yrs ago people would not buy a Pcar without understanding upkeep was dif ($$) than a Toyota.....now people 'expect' decent running cost even with a Pcar.....but it's not there yet IMHO........if sh#t happens, it can be expensive.....and yes, possibly less expensive on the C4 than TT
get it inspected by someone you trust.......spend time on the service log......at least half of the issue with a 5 yr old car is what sort of life it's lived
Good luck

I have owned both ! Easy choice: The TT wins in all the fields...by far in all measurable fields... This said, the C4 is a very, very good car, but the TT is a ...GREAT car. I don't know of anyone having owned a TT to sell it and buy a C4...
It would be much more difficult to choose between an 2004 TT and a 997s.. Here yes, the 997 s has different handling aspects ( I have tried it on a track) that could well balance against the TT .

I come from a different camp, but I want to offer an additional thought:
I suspect everyone on this board probably got into their TT thinking they had way more power than they would ever need. But some strange illness overtakes us, and we (most of us) want MORE. The 996TT is capable of modifications to make enormous amounts of power. More than any sane person can justify... of course that doesn't stop us.
My point is that this bug often strikes, and with a C4S (or any NA car) you are very, very limited in the HP improvements you can make, and consequently you can save a large amount of money with the NA car.
