Default A Cheap Brake Upgrade...

We've been changing out turbo brake ducts for a few years now and it seems that everytime we go to the GT3-Style brake ducts (both pictured) they keep on getting larger and larger... and now they have rivets. These ones we installed are from the 04. Our track guys swear by them and I've been using them for ages. In terms of cooling properties is not hard to see why the GT cars use them. What's good enough for GT3s/GT2s etc... is good enough for me. They're pretty cheap for $126 per side and your local dealer can get them. Let me know if you guys need the part numbers etc...

Alex, I just had these ducts put on!!! I totally agree with your recommendations!! Front are the GT3 "Cup" ducts with rivets and rear I used the GT2 ducts. Factory porsche motorsport parts and made for the car!! Cheap and awesome upgrade. I had trouble finding the correct ones, (my motorsport guy set me straight!) and I think if you offer them it is the very least everyone should do for their TT if they are ever going to see track events (also brake fluid and pad upgrade).
With that set up I really think there is not much more you have to do with this cars brakes unless you are doing more prolonged track driving.
Good sound advise, you should sell alot of these units!!

Those look bigger than the ducts that are on my car? I bought them about three years ago now but mine definately do not have rivets! I'll have to look into those.

There seem to be "many" "versions" of this piece of plastic....GT3....GT3?RS.....and the correct ones with the rivets are the GT3 "cup" ducts.
Alex will know, highly recommended!!

That's what I had on my '03.

Tom, glad that they made a difference. Every little bit helps on these turbos.

Sharky,

Please post the part numbers. Can a Porsche dealer actually order these if they are Motorsports parts?

Thanks,

They are actually from a MY02 GT2 so any dealer can supply them.

for posting the part numbers and not pretending you are the super-secret-only-supplier-cause-they-are-sourced-from Germany BS that other shops like to pretend...

The parts catalog shows the MY03 GT2 with an updated part number, do you happen to know if they are any larger? (996-341-117-91 (L) and 996-341-118-91 (R))

Sharky - Do you need to remove the cross member to install the new ducts or is there an easier way??? TIA.

Heya JasonAndreas, thanks for the kind words Nah I don't like secrets either!

The ones that you are talking about I don't believe are larger but the bottom fin is even MORE protruded if I remember right. Wacky things!

T2 no need to remove any cross members. Takes a good bit of muscling in there really. Perhaps you can heat up the plastic (not too long) or lube it up with WD40 if need be...

Sharky,

Thanks!! It does look like the upper section is "looped" over that cross member (or is that the existing stock piece that stays in place and the part numbers listed above are only for the lower pieces riveted to the upper piece). Thanks again for the clarification.
