HRE vs IForged
I am thinking of putting a set of 19's on my 02TT. Anyone have a opinion on what brand is better. If you have has any exoeriance with either. Additionally can I go 12 in the back or is 11.5 the safe choice?
Thanks

I have a set of iForged wheels, 19 inchers, Seneka model.
And I hate them. The build quality is not very good, and craftsmanship is terrible. The powdercoating was very uneven (I got black). On my model, along the lip there are little nuts all around. These nuts started rusting after 2 months. Then vibration became an issue. I had a shop remove the tires and re-balance them, but it didn't do any good. Then I spent more money and went to see a wheel specialist, who looked at the wheel, and did a road-force balance. He told me he was very suprised that the wheel was still in one piece. He thought it should've exploded by now. He said that the run-offs were totally off. The wheels were distorted, and not even round. I've logged about 100 miles on the wheels, and the roads around here are pretty decent. I don't ever recall having an impact with a pothole. It really gets awful vibrations when its wet out. That's my 2 cents. If I were you I would look at the Techarts (5 spoke), or even BBS, and stay away from iforged. I'm trying to sell my wheels now for the techarts.

I have 19" Champion wheels, forged, one piece and light (see pic below). 11.5 is fine with a 315/25 tire ( I recommend MPS2).
My race set up is the 18" GT2 wheels which are 12" wide in the back and also fit fine.

There is a thread on the "other" forum where HRE is being called out by the forum owner because of this exact issue... He claims HRE has no fix and he has bought 11 sets of wheels from them, etc.. Well of course they don't have a fix, no one with reverse lips does... He stated he is going to go with AVUS wheels instead... That is the other brand I had.. Great build quality, but the vibrated like hell in the rain just like my HRE's.......

Any wheel with a lip is going to vibrate in the rain, that is not just a problem with Iforged. Sorry to hear you have not had a good experience, try sending them back to get resprayed and cleaned up, but it sounds like you are done with them..........

GDF,
I tried many times to contact iforged, with no results. Emails were unanswered, phone calls lead nowhere. I'm glad that yours turned out well. Maybe they got their act together and produced better wheels. I for one won't be their customer again.
