Remote locking system audible sound
OK gang,
I am wondering if there is a way to make the remote locking system make an audible noise (horn chirp) when locking and unlocking? If you walk away from the car too far before locking it, you cannot hear the locks engage or see the lights flash in the sunlight. Am I the only knucklhead that has this issue?
PS: On April the 3rd I will be taking a tour of the Porsche factory during a business trip to Germany. I will let everyone know how that goes.

If you hit the button twice it is audible (double lock), but I think this also disables the interior passenger infrared alarm. This is different , BTW, than if you hear a horn when locking once as this indicates something is still open...door or console...
PS...did the Porsche factory tour several years ago (when the "new" 996TT was first being built). Very interesting and enlightening. Have fun.

Yes there is a valid way to make it beep as you are walking away. Disconnect the mini switch that is at the center console glove box door. You can take it off its mounting clip and let it hang free inside the console. It will think the switch is open all the time. The alarm will sound everytime you lock the car. But the alarm system is still armed and functioning.
You can probibly get to it by taking off the ashtray compartment and /or the cover on the hand brake side.
