Tip Launch Question
I have a 6spd TT and was thinking of swapping for a tip TT. Drove one over the weekend, and, from a stop, the first 1/2 second seemed delayed or quite slow. I tried power braking and it didn't seem to help that much. Was this possibly a bad apple or are all the TT tips this way from a stop?
Thx!

Yes, I tried M mode and 1st too. The car dose not jump off the line though. Is that the Turbo lag kicking in?
It seems that the regular 996 jumped off the line quicker. True?
Thx for the help.

No rubber burning starts in a tip TT (saves tires)! Until the engine builds significant boost (around 2000 RPM), remember you're driving a 3.6l relatively low compression 6 cylinder 3500lb car. My G35 coupe will take a non-brake torqued TT off the line, but after that half second or so, MOVE OVER!

While I am a fan of the tip, I haven't tried brake torquing a tiptt. On my 6speed X50, simultaneous brake and throttle results in no throttle. Can the current tip be brake-torqued?
I think the performance edge of the 997tt tip is the rapid spool up of the new turbos plus the capability to brake torque at launch.
Europenas really aren't much into street lauches, so I'm guessing it wasn't a design priority. AS

And I'm still not buying the 997tt tip is quicker than the 6 speed. Just a marketing ploy to distract everyone from the lack of the DSG which is hyped to what, MATCH the performance of the manual - and now a 5 speed automatic can beat one?

My Tip experience...
03 Tip here...yes, the delay off the line is normal and IMP terrible, even in manually selected 1st gear. I have done the brake style launch many times, to little benefit to my seat of pants testing. You have to mash the brake ALL the way down, but still, little effect. I put the GIAC flash on to help the mid-range and get a little more omph, but little off the line help. I have not driven the 6sp, but hear it has a lot of wheel hop, so which is faster consistently? I dont know. Many days I wish for the 6sp, many days glad I have tip. 997TT Tip seems to be the real deal (be funny to see 6sp TT owners buy a 997 tip and stop badmouthing the current tip owners
But seriously, the 6sp has to be more fun than the current Tip. But with my tip, extra power, and NAV, I drive it everwhere and may ditch the 3rd car (540 Dinan) and daily drive the TT.
