Question BIG DIFFERENCE IN BRAKE DUCTS??

Getting brake ducts before next track event...would love some input from you guys. Choice between GT3 version (cheap and OEM) or Sportec.

Would the GT3 ducts which are cheap and simple be a good upgrade and enough? This question for track use not bling bling.

Second part. Can also get the rear ducts from GT2, would they make a big difference or are rears not really worth it??

TIA

tom

Tom,
Have you asked this question in the Racing/DE forum?
Lots of 996 GT3 Cup brake experience over in there.

Can you integrate/install the Sportec intakes into an OEM bumper? I've seen them in the Sportec front bumper, but don't recall seeing a pic of them in an OEM front bumper.

Looks like you can integrate Sportec brake cooling (intakes) into the stock bumper for the 4S only?:
This picture shows it on a 996TT.

Lewis, thanks so much!! Went to that web site, have the GT3 ducts which look like a piece of plastic to direct air flow and then the one which looks like the back of my dryer.....the first seems easier and I think that is what I am going with what do ya think??

thanks again

That's not true, it works on 996TT OEM bumper as well.

Tom we install those on just about any car before doing any brake upgrade. If you saw the "stock" ones by comparison you'd laugh... Do they get more air directly to the rotors? Sure as heck they do.. If they're good enough for cup cars then they're good enough for us A good cheap mod and something you can use as well if/when you go to brakes. I did actually have a customer that data logged rotor temps (I **** you not) but I don't know where the heck I put his excel sheet. It showed a decent enough difference on Laguna Seca on one side with vs one without. Of course it's not "exact" science but...

They don't make a huge difference but they do help a whole lot. Get the GT3 fronts and GT2 rears and hopefully your brakes will feel much better.

My 2 cents....I would go with the GT3 Cup ducts.
Can't imagine your brakes, SRF and these would give you any issues/problems.

I was somewhat confused by Sportec stating for Carrera 4S only.
