How much hp is enough strongly depends on the suspension setup.
So cheaper to buy some shot shocks than a 590hp RUF engine...
Serious, 500 hp is not even close to "enough" in a 996 tt.
500 hp is not even OK in this car.

William Blake, the English poet who lived in the 18th-19th century, said in answer to this question, "You never know what is enough unless you know what is more than enough." Thus, Blake urges all to experience excess so that they can recognize what is not excess. In light of this, perhaps the question should be, "How much power do you think is too much for a 996tt?" Does anyone know?

550 horses to wheels is more than enough for the 996 TT. Same thing applies to the GT2. If you're going to occasionally track the car, you you should not go more than 550 in my opinion.
The Ruf 590 package is perfect. Built motor and I would say around 550 horses to the wheels. That's perfection.

How much is enough? The answer is circumstantial. Different circumstances will dictate the amount of power usage that is possible, and as stated above, suspension will have lots to do with this. Due to the adaptability of our brains, under the right circumstances, there will never be enough. Our brain adapts to the new inputs and after a while the rush subsides.
At least this is what I tell myself to feel better until I buy a 996tt x50.

True, plus we have the AWD advantage to sort out as well.......but its a number that makes sense....today....In two years from now, 500 hp may seem like 300 is now......How could they drive underpowered cars like that

With our extra weight...a TT will need about 600 flywheel HP (or 480 AWHP) to trap the same as a Z06 or run with one from a roll.
