Congrats to EVOMS!!
I would like to congratulate Evolution Motorsports for their 1/4 mile
run in the 10's !!!
I understand it was a 10.375 @ 139 mph and the
car is a "GT800 kit" (I would think it is a tweaked GT800 kit)
I would like a few answers from EVOMS in regards to their great run!
What weight is the car? how is it lightened?
2wd or All wheel drive?
what octane race gas?
what intercoolers, and were they iced down?
what diameter wheels 18 or 19 ??
what boost is this car at ? (has Evoms done their tricky addition
of something to the ECU to overide the 1.3 bar throttle body shut down?)
This is a great run and now a couple years after Alex D's car has been
doing this , here is another one!
Last Question: Can an EVOMS GT800 customer expect to purchase
this kit and run 10.375 in the quarter ??? or is this a highly tweaked "one off"?
Congratulations

I pulled this from 6speed I don't think Todd would mind. It answers some of your questions:
Quote from Todd Z from Evolution Motorsports regarding the run:
"This car is our company R&D vehicle equipped with our GT800 engine upgrade w/ straight exhaust. The engine is stock except for the internal strengthening components (rods, head studs and oil pump). It has stock heads, stock pistons and valve train. We built this engine about 15 months ago and have not touched it since then. The car is running the stock transmission and stock gearing with the drive shaft removed. The car weighs about 3350 - 3400 with driver and fuel. "
They ran this on an 81 degree day at 1250 ft of altitude in Arizona. The car should get into the 9's on a better track and better conditions.

I would assume more like 2 bars alt least.. when sharky did his 10.6 pass... he was at 28 psi.. tahts almost 2 bars. there is no way in hell u can run this car at 1.3 bars and do mid tens....
they pulled the driveshaft.... and probably they have soem extra since its the company car....
I know of a EVO 8 tuner that "holds back" on customers cars.... would it not be silly if a customers car out ran the tuners' car? they have a bunch of national meets... and they usually build one just for that.
In any event, congrats... its about time.

Great Accomplishment, and I agree with everything said by JEAN above!
I do believe if the general public purchases a GT800 kit they WILL NOT see this
performance from thier car however, This appears to be EVOMS fastest run ever
and is probably running 1.8 bar approx (guesstimate).
Great Run.

Joe, I do not hate EVOMS or anybody involved with EVOMS,
I needle them from time to time, but there is not hate coming from
my direction. Wasn't I the one that posted this congradulatory
Post?? This is an awesome run, and like Jean said, regardless of
how it was accomplished. No hate or anything that I see derrogatory
above.

Woodster...I am not involved with this at all, but as a bystander...it is very obvious you have some inherent problem with EVOM...even your original post was full of sarcasm. And, of course, every other post you have made. Why don't you relax and get a life.

Wow,
Such a hostile and thin skinned crowd!
Apparently my own brand of sarcasm and humour is not well
rec'd without me being there. This is another classic case of what is said on the internet is not the same as being in a room with someone to see their facial expessions, body language, etc. (you can be alot more sarcastic (needling), without offending people if you are in person.
Much of this is a shame because I truly believe we would all get along if
we were in person together. I absolutely love the Porsche world, my car'
my miniscule mods and all the people I have met as a result of this board.
Sharkey, in regards to the Neil bashing on 6SPEED: The only thing that I
could add is this: I do know that he (your friend Eddy)
was credited for his
ECU, and this was stated much deeper in that post I believe, I also know
that Neil's hard drive is in Belgim until Monday or so. As soon as it comes back to him, Eddy's ECU will be flashed
back to stock. I do not believe there is much more to it than that is there?
Unfortunately as a result of this post by Eddy, more people will question
what Neil was doing?? Neil, if you have met him in person is
very polite, quiet, accommodating and a hell of alot more knowledgeable than Stephen or others who have not met him, give him credit for. Correct me if I am wrong but Eddy was still calling
Neil about a refund and in fact the refund was already put through and Eddy
did not know it at the time. This caused additional frustration and now we know why.
The people who sell GIAC product, are a very tight knit group,
and support each other very well. If you watch over time
there have been alot of things that have been tolerated on this very forum just because someone was a board sponsor
and their word was assumed and supported as "Gospel".
Look back at any PSI or Upsolute post where someone was
happy with their product or was showing people what it did.
The criticism was much more clever than mine however!!
Herein lies the difference. So all of you who think I have been needling and sarcastic towards the giant, must play
by the same rules and be supportive and helpful of all products. Questioning and Competition is good for product development and
business. I apoligise for the long and convoluted post but
I must state what I feel also. Because many people have now
taken shots at me as well, for no reason.
Cheers and heres to more "debate" and future discussions.
