I probably shouldn't say a word as we should always keep out mouths shut when it comes to say negative things about others or other things but I decided to add the view from somebody who lives across the pond and, although highly influenced by the American culture its still a lot different. Generally body kits and exterior mods (exception for RUF which produces their own cars) like painting wheels are being less and less used as they seem to be associated with extreme bad taste and a clear attempt to call everyone's atention. The trend seems to be avoiding RED (the cars are actually worth less, exception for Ferrari...) and keeping the exterior as it comes although the same cannot be said about engine and suspension... Basically the trend is a Wolf in sheepskin and not the other way round...
Please, I repeat PLEASE don't take this post as an agression, just my view for Euro culture
Kiko, Kiko. Kiko. Iwas born in UK and my parents are Italian and I love RED 911 TT`s. This is not bad taste. Even RUF has many ORANGE and RED cars. Red is a great color on any car. Not attracting attention I allready have a big...oops!! Hey and aren`t the Portugese Italian wannabees!!!!! Kiko just kidding on the last sentence, HaHa. Freedom of expression yes. But you are right on a lot of the bod
y kits. They look like crap and won`t match the beauty of the original TT lines. Mike PS Kiko for a second there you almost sounded FRENCH.
Please apologise but I have to insist that taste is one thing, general tendency and trend is another and the fact is a red, yellow or any other bright colour 996 is worth less both in Germany and rest of Europe period. This sets a tendency just like body kits. Don't take me wrong but the fact you where born in UK and your ancestors are italian does not put you in a better posiyion in terms of taste... My opinion is based on the fact that due to the fact that I work in Fashion Business I getto travel 10 or 15k miles around Europe and in glamourous places like Milan or French Riviera... JUst my opinion.
I am not a big fan of the 996 looks at all BUT somehow I really like the looks of the black one with black wheels.
But I also second Kikos point that especially red cars are worth less in europe.
In fact it seems to be nearly impossible to sell a red GT2 over here! Makes no sense at all because a GT2 attracts attention in every color :-)
I have a set painted yellow for my track tires and they look good. Paint job was done at the factory and the edge is painted silver. If you were to keep your center cap stock the silver "lip" would look nice, IMO
