It may be his PC.. I have over 5000 computers installed accross the US and we rely on USB and we have not had any significant issues with USB.

it works most of the time, but can be quirky with unusal applications.

i had a hell of time getting my data logger to work with my usb on my laptop. it required a serial to usb conversion. i had to fiddle with a bunch of port settings before it would finally communicate but now it works fine.

if other people have sucessfully communicated with the software with the same vehicle, the only variable is the PC or possibly a defective cable.

This is the last day for the group buy. We already have enough orders to get the reduced price.

Karen should nominate "PTDog" for the "presidents club".. I'm sure he sold more software in the month of January so far than any other salesman... Or is that SalesWoman when it comes to you PTDog...

That's right you don't even work for the company... So I guess that just makes you a "Woman" with out the sales...

Just an update. I talked to Karen and Jay at AE. Due to the overwhelming post Christmas sales and this group buy, they are now slightly behind with inventory and any additional orders will be shipped on Monday. They apologize for the delay and have agreed to extend this pricing till Friday afternoon.

I think that I may have found Kiko's problem in connecting.
Mine wouldn't see thre OBDII until I turned the plug on it's side, suddenly it works. Straight in - nothing.

The problem that results though is it will only register while standing still, a minor movement (like hitting 16 mph) causes it to lose the connection.

I think there may be a physical interface problem, where the center of the plug edges are somewhat convex and preventing electrical contact.

Let's see what the good folks at AE say tomorrow.

edit: It may be the female end of the plug that's convex, but something doesn't fit quite right.

let us know what you find out. i get mine today.

it should be fitting fine, as the plug is a standard size and shape for OBD2.

I talked with Jay at AE, he commented that Porsches often have this problem.
Suggested holding the back (car end) of the connection point and pressing hard but not harder than 5 lbs of pressure.
We'll see later.

thanks for checking on that. i get mine today. i'll give it a try tonight. jay never mentioned that in any of our phone conversations. i know a couple other people that have used this product on pcars with no issues. hopefully this is not a problem.

just so i'm clear, he is suggesting that we reach under the dash and support the plug base before we plug the laptop in?

Yeah, reach up and hold the back of the plug.
Guess what, it worked. I got a solid connection that stayed connected.
Tomorrow the dyno.

i got mine working tonight. it was really easy on the saab. i had to wiggle it a bit on the porsche to get the usb connection. it held once i got it. i wonder if porsche's connectors are a little off.

don't try and clear codes while the engine is running. it'll stall

once we all get familiar with it, we should try and see exactly what it will and won't do. i found some of the sensors take forever to connect.
