Not a lot actually... The TUrbo S comes with Ceramic brakes but all the same K24s, GT2 intercoolers and beefed up tranny like on the X50.

The PCCB brakes are the GEN II as opposed to the GEN 1's on any other 996. Overall, the turbo S is marketing excercise that served to give owners a nice saving by combining the X50, PCCB Gen II's and a few options in one, end of the run turbo.

All of the above and...only 180 coupes and ~ 550 cabs made for worldwide distribution. FWIW if the 997TT does not live upto expectations then the Turbo S badging could have a rarity value...

Almost certain that Porsche will interduce a 997 turbo S, at least a year after the turbo is released.

Based on Tom's recent transmission thread, there doesn't appear to be much 'beefed up' in the X50 transmission compared to a stock box.

unfortunately, Lewis (as always) is right about that, Not much beef in the X-50 tranny. But boy does mine have "beef" now!
Only thing that the TT-S has different is the PCCB it the 1st generation were an option on the earlier cars. The S is the top of the progression before the 997TT comes out. And I hope that the new car has more hp then the S. At least close to 500?! Or I'll be crushed!

The factory claims that both the 6 speed and the tiptronic is strengthened on the X50/turbo S.

The "strengthening" just means that the syncros in the X50 are made of heavier brass.
