Well, in the middle of a massive transmission upgrade.....steel syncros, clutch upgrade to heavier pressure plate (sachs) and light weight fly wheel.
Well can or do these things need a trans cooler and if so is it possible??
I know the GT-2 has one.
Has anyone added one on???
TIA

My opinion when you take these cars to the track, and track them. and if you have been already had the "repaired tranny" The GT2 pump and cooler should be explored.. As costly as the parts are, in the long term it will be cheaper..

Tom
There are different ways of doing it, some are better than others and more expensive too. If you track your car hard it is great insurance. Typically 30-40 minutes of hard track driving "can" be enough to cause damage. In a race environment, 20 could be enough.
You can get something decent done for 1.5-2k USD or so using a Tilton pump and internal spray bar.
Some names who can help you on this board are Steve Weiner, Chris Cervelli, Rick DeMan to name a few.
Did you think about changing some gear ratios? You can find maybe some used good Cup 3rd-5th gears with shorter ratios.
I would check it out before finalizing the upgrade.

Tom, they aren't telling you the entire truth, the gearbox has more than one section, the section that needs changed is right behind the main bell housing section.

Hey guys,
I've not had a problem with my stock non-X50 transmission. I am running the thicker mobil 1, I believe it's the 75/140.
I've raced 4 PCA sprint races and 1 enduro without issue. I've also DE'd the car about 4 times, plus 7,00 street miles. I've been using the B&M shifter during all of the events including half of the street miles.
I have a street X50 with 9500 miles, B&M shifter, with no issues using the tranny oil that came in the car.
If you can add the tranny cooler I would do it. I've looked at it in the PET catalog and it looks feasible but I've not pursued it yet. Let me know what you find out.
We had to run tranny cooler's and diff. cooler's on our T1 Corvettes otherwise they got real notchy and noisy during the race.
Thanks,
Rick

Rick I think I'll skip the tranny cooler (seems to complicated and expensive) and get some driving lessons (not that the blown trans was my fault), let me know when you want to come to florida for a vacation!! Wish I had your experience and skill!!!!!

Tom,
Thanks for the kind words, although I think the AWD TT is such a good car it makes us all look pretty fast. I'm actually heading to Sebring to race the PCA sprint and enduro in February at the 48 hour event. Stop by if you're around we're usually pitted down by Turn 1.
Hopefully you won't have any tranny problems after your transplant is complete.
Take care,
Rick

Dr. Tom,
could you reiterate the changes/upgrades you are doing to your tranny?
I have heard people mention input shafts, steel and stuff ???
Specifics please.
thanks,
Marty
