Question Upsolute ECU Chip...

Anyone tried the Upsolute ECU Chip? (www.upsolute.com)???

They claim 90 BHP in a STOCK, yes, STOCK 996 TT (the one with 420 odd BHP) WITH NO OTHER MODIFICATIONS...

IS this true? If so, why the heck did I spend SO MUCH money on other stuff...

It's never been proven (not that I've known) or denied.

You guys are the wizards on this... What say you?

I think Upsolute delivers just about what they claim.

I've seen a dyno on a stock Turbo with an exhaust, and it pulled455 rwhp on a dynojet (front drive disconnected). That's ~530 at the flywheel for a gain of +115 hp over stock.

Impossible to get 115 hp with ECU change and exhaust, common
sense will tell you this. It is possible to get 115 hp with turbo change,
ECU and exhaust...
I apoligize if I am opening another can of worms but I just
cannot take some of these claims

I can't put my hands on the +115 hp dyno right now, but I've got this one for you to ponder...a non-X50 Turbo with Upsolute and Fabspeed exhaust on a Mustang dyno...it shows an improvement of +111 hp over stock.

And that dyno shows a bump of +126 lb-ft of torque...

Marty,
Next time Levino comes to KC, please come with him. I will provide the car, chip, dyno and the BEER!! He will tell you we have a hell of a good time here and throw a good bash.

We can also dyno yours since you guys don't have a dyno worth a hoot up there.

Wow... looks like I've stirred up a hornet's nest... I was just reading Upsolute's page, and they do claim like 100+ Horse Power JUST FROM THE CHIP... I don't know what else to say... I'm totally stummped... more bickering needed please...

Oh... and lastly... HOW RELIABLE DOES THIS MAKE THE CAR? Will things in it blow off, or engine fire, or gears or pistons sieze up???

Don't worry about the bickering Darkworx. This is really not that bad.

The reliability is not changed. Modding an ECU if done correctly will become seamless in use. It will be as if the car always had the kind of power it is producing. I have more miles on my car modified than anyone I know. That also includes 200+ dynos pulls, snow, rain and shine. The car now has about 50K on it and doesn't have a single issue. A few rock chips but that is it.

Amazing!!!

For a while, I've been on this forum asking rather newbie-inspired questions...

As for mods goes, my Emma (996 TT) has the basics done to her...

-PSS9
-GT3 seats
-Evo Motorsports airbox
-Sway & tower bars by H&R
-Fabspeed "silent" exhaust
-9ff CF hood (painted black like the body)
-9ff CF roof (probably the few who invested in it...looks kinda cool)

And as for engine, I've done my diverter valves, the silicon hoses, and lighter pullies, and GT2 Radiator swaps.

Other than the roof, the car looks bone-stock.

I'm contemplating to go for the Upsolute Chip or not...

FYI. I've also pulled my AWD drive shaft out of my car, so it's a RWD.

Thank You for not booing and hissing me off this forum for being a noobie at this... Guys' are the best!

We were all neebies at some time.

Nice list of what you call basics! You have some good toys there. Drop us some pics if you get a chance.

Watch the driveshaft being out. If the car gets in trouble it will shut ABS and PSM down because it thinks something is wrong.

Oh...I've had my share of close calls... Actually totally terrifying calls... The PSM went first...but the ABS seemed to have held in there...

I drive it around A LOT... It's good in the wet, if I don't floor it. So...it isn't a good idea to pull out the AWD I take it

It's just really fun and zippy to have the car ride like that...

OH, by the way... Any estimation on how much torque and BHP the AWD Transfer case and shaft can sustain before you need to either reinforce it, or yank it?

Mucho Gracias again my friends in Porsche land... I promise I will get pictures

Here's another dyno for you Woodster...Upsolute on an X50. (Mustang AWD dyno). So with a 22% loss it's getting ~560 hp at the flywheel. That's a +116 hp bump.
