Default Has anyone blown a coolant hose ???

I went for a long lunch today (real long) in my Porsche,
It is 70 degrees and sunny in November in MPLS, MN!!!!
Cruising down the highway with my favorite lady, (Mrs. K)
first my "check coolant level light comes on"
then I begin watching my temp gauge, in less than 3 miles
my temp shoots from 180-240 !!!!
Flashing words tell me temp too high shut off engine!

Car was flatbedded to Local Porsche dealer and there it sits.
Back end of car, and rear bumper covered in coolant, and when
I look underneath I cannot tell where it is coming from other than
passenger side ????????

Most likely a bad coolant tank. I have seen many of them go bad.... This is on the drivers side though. Otherwise it just may be a hose.

That will teach you to play with antifreeze. Sounds like your car was rejecting the new vital fluid. I suggest you stop posting in the air cooled forums to prevent further problems.

I had a coolent hose go bad in my GT2. The hose was fine but the fitting at the radiator developed a crack and hence a leak and then a mess! Fine one day and spewing coolant the next. $61 for the hose, and we were as good as new, well except for a few hours of clean up.

By the way my car had about 4,000 miles on it at the time, so it was a bad hose, not a worn out one!

Since they are only $60 for the hose, I would go buy one and keep it in your spares package for track days. Doesn't take up much room, but will be hard to get when you need it!

Mine blew with a 2 inch tear. It was the one that comes off the engine on the passenger side. I had coolant everywhere. Lucky I was one block from my home so I slowy got her home. I have a 01 and since then Porsche changed that hove to a better design.

Knowing Porsche parts prices, since the hose was OK they were probably charging $61 for a new hose clamp!

Prognosis:
Blew a 2 inch tear in hose on passenger side, part arrives today and
then I can go Rip up the country roads before the snow comes!
