Default Implications of modding leased cars??

Im all hot to do some mods on my turboS, but as I look further into it, the more I want to mod it...lol. Right Im now looking at EVO stage 3 or 4. My car is leased. What are the negative issues you guys have faced when modding a leased car?? Or does it really matter? Thanks

It's definitely throw away money. My company is leasing the car for me so I may purchase it at the end - but who knows. I'd love to mod mine, and I might... Tough decision...

Modding a leased car is well...asking for trouble. Doc, no offense meant, but if you were to begin with mods the first place you want to start is the suspension...to give you better handling. Put in the X73 package and you'll have a whole new car. That is all you NEED for the Turbo S. As for more HP, my advice would be spend thge money on learning how to drive this beautiful machine. There is more power under that rear decklid than you can handle. Just my 3 cents...and, I think, good advice!

YOu are probably right Bobby, but after riding in a friend's EVO stage 4 996 TT coupe, I got the HP bug..lol... How does the X73 compare to the stock suspension? How rough is the ride??

The ride with an X73 is not rough at all, and you will get a car that handles like nothing what you have now. But, and most importantly, don't add more power...seriously learn to drive it first! I'm regularly tracking my car now and I'm nowhere even close to exhausting the existing HP

Default Cost of X73 suspension?

I have a '03 TT what would the cost be of adding the X73 suspension, and is a dealer the best way to do the install? Thanks.

I bought my X73 suspension from Carnewal (in Europe), so the price depends on the exchange rate at the time - mine cost a little under $2400.

I had my dealer install the suspension and new mortor mounts that come with X73, and they did the alignment too...cost around $1000.

Default Thanks Doc

How does your car ride compared to stock. I assume it is harsher, if so how much?

There's no question that X73 is a stiffer ride than the stock Turbo's suspension.

You'll feel bumps in the road as harder "hits" in the seat of your pants - the car is rock solid. This is good though when driving at higher speeds, as the car feels glued down to the road. In the curves it's just awesome...really drives like a hard edged sports car - better turn-in, less understeer, and way better grip. Also, the vertical movement in the front under acceleration and braking is really reduced.

Doc, what other mods have you done to your car? What tires are you using, PS2 or SO2, etc., Are you using factory rims? I suspect I will not have any warranty issues if I use the X73 versus PSS-9 am I correct?

Thanks for the invite to Atlanta. I may come, there is a fellow who owes me some money for a car I sold him some years back [a 1972 Lotus Elan 2+2S] and he lives in Atlanta now, hence additional motivation.

*EVO Stage 2
*B&M shifter
*EVO ShiftLink
*Europipe Stage 2 Loud exhaust
*EVO air box
*Stock wheels
*Michelin Pilot Sport Ribs in stock sizes

Installing X73 will not void your warranty.

Hi Doc,

Is the X73 suspension a coil over type of system like the PSS-9? Or is it just different shocks, bars, etc. I had a M030 suspension in my '99 C2 is it anything like that?

Thanks a lot DOC.

The X73 suspension is not a coil over suspension. It consists of new shocks and springs along with stiffer motor mounts. IMO, X73 is a little stiffer than the 030 suspension.
