Default My gearshift broke!

Err the cable snapped or something.

I shifted 3-2 and it went lifeless in me hands...

Luckily i was close by my house. Roadside svc was okay - 1hr.

The cars getting flatbedded to hoehn.

I think i've grown tired of the super long std shft and may spring for the SS kit. Getting in my Z i instantly appreciated the slot-like shifting action. My elation was followed by downright deject when I revved the sweet sounding motor to 5k and saw i was only doing 30mph....god my Z is SLLLOOWWW.

anybody ever hear of this happening?

Does the shortshift kit replace a bunch of parts? I'm trying do figure whether i can work a deal since the broken shifter is warrantied.

You guys who are looking for a used turbo...make sure you get a warrantee!

This has happened to a number of people. The crappy OEM plastic shifter linkage can break leaving you stranded. When you install the SSK (which you will love) get the EVO billet Shift Link CLICK HERE Click on 996TT then click on shifter. It's a quality piece and a very easy install.

The short shifter kit is awesome. I decided to get the RUF kit, and the throws are 45% shorter. Makes a HUGE difference on the 1-2 shift, and the 4-5 shifts. You won't be disappointed!

You can get the B&M under car (they make it for RUF) for a LOT less....

qirex are you talking about the 350Z or the Z4.

i read somewhere that the 350Z's owners manual has a section that tells you to drive at a lower gear deliberately to attract attention.

talk about poseur factor

yeah, its a 350z.

I dunno about the manual saying that - but it IS a sweet sounding stock motor.

Its a great car, but simply cannot be compared to a turbo (or 996 for that matter).

I guess now its easier to appreciate the turbo. I found myself commenting on how it didnt feel "fast" anymore...

got my cvar back!!

and I love the SSk.

they just installed the OEm SSk. Do i still need the EVo billet piece? While the shifter felt sloppy and buttery before, it feels like a solid rod of metal coming out of the trans - as it should feel.

Yes. You still need the EVO Shift link to avoid your previous problem.

What does the under-car solve other than shortening the throws? You are still stuck with a plastic shifter and plastic connectors.
