Default Help with a decision please...

Hi,

I currently have a 996 TT, stage 3 upgrades, tiptronic, Alpine nav and sound system, bluetooth handsfree, xm radio, the works.

The problem is the lease is expiring after 4 years.

Since there is no new 997 Turbo yet, I'm thinking of a 997 C2 S Cab, 2 year lease. 997 C2 S Cab should have good power (I'll get manual shift) and the Cab will be a good change.

I'm not sure when the new 997 TT will be out.

What would you do in this situation?

Thanks!

I have driven the 997s on the track and its nice. But its no Turbo. Going from a TT to a 997S will be a let down for you. Since you're going to lease then it may make sense for you to lease a new turbo for 2 years, transfer your music gizmos onto the new one and when the lease on the new one is about to expire you'd be ready for the 997TT...which should have been out for about a year and the bugs worked out. Perfect?...

If you like your current Turbo, why not keep it?

I am assuming you don't want another 996TT. Why not pick up a GT-3 for the fun of it? You could have 2 years of fun, and then settle into the new 997 TT when it arrives.

What I did was sell me '03 turbo and buy a turbo S. I also drove the 997 S on and off the track, and while it was a great car, it didn't feel as good as the turbo did. I would have loved a GT3, but we didn't have any available in our part of the world. Seems that production was halted sometime around mid-summer for us to, probably, fulfill US orders.

Will the dealer extend the lease and warranty? BMW had an easy lease-extension policy when I leased in 94. Audi had a policy which prohibited extending the lease. Where is Porsche? AS

I've made up my mind, thanks for the comments.

I'm getting the first 997 S Cab that is coming to the dealer, probably in 4 weeks. The biggest factor when I made this decision is I want a cab this time, I could have leased a 2 year Turbo cab, but there is a lot of new technology in the 997. I've been driving the 996 TT for 4 years now, and I want a different engine, different feeling. Because 997 S lacks the 4 wheel drive, it felt sportier and the engine revs so nicely.

It's for 2 years anyways, and if the Turbo/Turbo Cab comes sooner than that I can get out of this lease after a year.

Thanks again for sharing your opinions.

Keep the 996TT until the new generation comes out.

No comparison between the two cars. Hope you are not dissapointed in the NA 997.
