Question Dual Turbo ?

Please assist a new Turbo owner with a stupid question. I just bought my first turbo, a 2001 coupe with Tiptronic. My salesperson kept mentioning dual turbo. and the sales manager said as I was leaving, "Congratulations on your new turbo". My stupid question-Is there such a thing as a single turbo and a dual turbo? Please don't laugh, I really don't know.

Thanks for any help.

Larry, congrats on your new twin turbo.. Yes, since 1995 Porsche 911 turbo's have been twin turbo.. Since our engines are flat boxer engines a turbocharger is located on each bank.. You also have two intercoolers also.. Basically from 1975-1994 and a few missed years in between we had single turbo boxer engines with the exception of the 959, 962 and some 935's... Hope that helps..

Congrats on your new Turbo! The reason Porsche switched to twin Turbos is that two smaller turbos have less turbo "lag" than one large turbo...
