Default Windshield Replacement

I know it's a regional thing but what should I expect? I was quoted $825 for Northern NJ.

Mine has a rain sensor. Not sure if that is common or not.

I think rain sensing windshield wipers were standard starting with MY 2002 Turbos.

I paid $1400 2 years ago then was quoted $1800 last year, Your quote sounds great, that is less than the part cost for me for OEM glass.

$1800?!? My $1k quote was 2.5 years ago. Have prices really gone up that much?

Here in Atlanta I paid $1,200 for an OEM windshield replacement 15+ ago. $825 is so crazy cheap I'm wondering if they misquoted the job.

Just the parts cost was $1439.00, then an additional $433 for labor and sales tax. This is in the SF Bay Area so prices at least on labor may be cheaper in other locations.

OEM glass price without rain sensor is $797 (list price is $1115) and with sensor is $965 (list price is $1347). Whatever seals that are needed, tax, labor, etc aren't included.

At $825 I don't see how it is possible that is OEM glass.

I don't think it's OEM. The OEM windshield itself with the 2 gaskets were a little over 1k in PA a year or so ago. I don't think the prices came down

That’s a very cheap price. As others have said the glass alone and seals will run you about $1350.. add in labor etc and you are at about 1600 ish. whatever you do DO NOT use safelite. I have had to replace a windshield on my 04 996tt and it ran 1650$ having a high end glass shop that specializes in Porsche and other exotics glass and install rain sensor was accounted for there too. Dealer wanted 1895$ and actually used this exact company for the work. On my 16 cayenne turbo with lane keep is was 2050$after the sensor alignments etc at the same shop. Deler wanted 2500$. Safelite quoted me and came out for both cars and after questioning the tech on the process, seals etc I sent them away and my money was refunded. They had quoted me 850 for the 996tt and $1100 for the cayenne.

End of the day it’s your money and car. A bad windshield replacement job will really sour you and leave you mad and inconvenienced for weeks dealing with the aftermath.

I'm not going OEM...and I'm not really worried about it.

This is from a place that does all our company vehicles, so they are incentivized to get it right.

If they don't, it'll be lesson learned. I'll post how it goes.
