Default OE Carbon Fiber color question

Seems that most of the OE interior Carbon that I see for our cars has a yellowish tinge to it that I assume is not something associated with aging. Is that correct? Aftermarket Carbon seems to look like a typical black carbon weave. Does anyone make anything that makes the OE look/color?

What you're seeing is UV degradation due to age/time in the poly resin. It should be black.

So a good carbon restorer should be able to fix that?

It can be sanded and recleared but the best way is to strip totally and recover. I have some pics of mine I restored and you can see the difference in color.

That's gorgeous...mind listing your steps you took to achieve this? Part of me wonders if it's just worth purchasing aftermarket? lol

I got mine from db carbon and pretty happy with it. Pricey, but comes with a lifetime warranty.

These were totally stripped of the original cloth, recovered with new cloth, new epoxy resin and finished with 2k clearcoat for longevity.

what do you mean totally stripped of the original cloth?
I thought it was a clear resin over the carbon viber that discolours? and you sand down the clear resin. and then apply more resin. how do you totally strip without damaging the carbon? is the clear coat a fiberglass resin clear coat? or something else? I need to do my door handles which are slightly discoloured, wondering if I should bother? Im the only one that notices...unless I were selling.

I personally think the carbon transforms the interior.

Yes, I removed the original carbon and redid it all, stripped to the plastic. You can sand and refinish, but you'll still have some yellowing. It will look better, but not 100%. The right way is to recover them.
