Both my cars had Norma worm clamps on them, presumably from the factory. I can't recall the orientation of the clamps. I reinstalled them so they would be accessible from under the car if the need ever arises again.

Picked up my X50 from shop yesterday, They only had it 4 days which is a miracle nowadays, I was in the shop last week checking progress, So glad to have these guys local. They have done quite a few of these in the past so felt really comfortable having them do it. Car so smooth with new motor mounts and plugs, Like new

.

Nice. I assumed Porsche use the pinch clamps thought out the car. Good to know they didn't here. Orientation if the worm clamps is key. I have mine set up for easy access from the rear of the car if the engine is dropped a few inches. I can just reach over the engine and get to the clamps with a small 1/4" ratchet with an extension.

That's what my mechanic did, Orientated everything as much as possible to have access from rear of car, Not that I should be back in there for a while

Give me a bit and I can probably come up with a pretty thorough list.
It's LONG. Easily $10k worth of "while you are in there". At least $996 in o-rings alone...

Same issue when I did the gearbox; budgeted x, ended up paying y - but hey, looks good!

I'm doing all the labor myself. I"ll have to spend some time (probably this weekend) compiling all the receipts. I have done some elective things...

But welding the coolant pipes, main seals, all o-rings, most gaskets, coils, plugs, coolant hoses (soft ones) radiators, expansion tank, water pump, voltage regulator, soft fuel lines (there are 3 on the top of the engine), all new evap/vacuum lines and seals, clutch ($3500 alone), GT2 Mod (the correct way, not the hack version by PO). I needed a new secondary air pump - mine was whining and throwing a code occasionally.

In addition...

rebuilt trans
trans oil cooler
new intercoolers
intake pipe
injectors
tune
rebuilt turbos
new ac condensers (one was weeping)
numeric shifter + cables

See my thread.... I'm hoping to make some progress on putting things back together this weekend. Goal for me was to make a car I could enjoy for years without "worrying". I want to drive it, one and off the track, and just enjoy it. This should cure a lot of the little issues that crop up as these cars get older.

$10k was a good budget several years back (almost 10 damn!) to do a clutch, weld coolant pipes, all o-rings, gt2 setup etc. Prob more now.

Nothing exotic unless you get into setting cam timing. Triple squares, internal and external torx, the usual tools that are needed on Euro cars.

And honestly, while certainly complex, they're pretty easy to take apart and put back together. Just a *ton* of little details, parts are easy to get, but take awhile. And I really do think I've spend $996 in o-rings. I had no idea anything short of a space rocket ship could have so many dang o-rings in so many places. astounding.

I'm sure I could have re-used some of them, especially at $10 each for quite a few of them - but.... it's a car that's going to be driven and tracked. I wanted piece of mind. And I bought Porsche OEM, I know it's probably the same as some aftermarket stuff; but the original ones were mostly holding great at 20years, so I figure it was cheap insurance.
