Default Wheel thoughts and opinions??

New owner and already got the upgrade bug. Car came with these Forgestar F14s which I wouldn't normally buy, but they don't look horrible for now.

I did buy a set of Kinesis K20s from a fellow 996'r and although I loved them on his car, I'm not so sure on my car. He had a GT3, so I did add 15mm spacers but something still seems off to me. Is it in my head? Opinions appreciated. Thanks.

The Kenisis look really good to me, muscular look. I also have a set of Forgestars I run auto X tires on and they are holding up well. They do look a bit cheap though.

In my very own humble view, none of those look as good as stock 18" turbo twists, or sport technos, or GT3 wheels.

The kinesis is the better wheel, but they do look kinda off. Are they 16s stepped up to 18s? Those faces look tiny.

I'm quite happy with the 18" Forgstar F14s...I bought them about 7 years ago and they still look new.

That being said wheel choice is quite subjective when sticking with 18s. The discussion gets a bit more controversial when talking about 19s...

I concur on the Forgestars. I think they look the best, followed by the stock Turbo Twists. Sorry, but I just don't care for the Kinesis wheels. I am sure that they are great wheels, but they look too busy to me, like something you'd see on a slantnose 911 from the '80s.

I love the Kinesis, but the problem is the spacing and tire size in the rear. 15mm isn't enough, you need something more like 25mm, which is too much in my opinion. You'd be better off with 1" wider lips, but then you'd have a small fortune into those wheels and it's not worth it from a money perspective unless you really like the wheels.

You could get new lips for the rear. I believe those were 11.5's. You might have to replace barrels too. I think they look great once the rears are rebuilt to fit the car. I have been looking for the parts to rebuild my kinesis k57's into 18's. You should be able to get the parts for around $800

Kinesis look off because of the double stepped lip. Looks like they were 17s at one time.

I'm a fan of the Forgestar F14s, had wanted some for my old E92 M3 but couldn't get. When I found some 19" F14s off a 996 turbo, I jumped on them, hoping they would almost fit my '99 C2. Stuck out about 24mm. Then I added to the garage a 996 turbo that came with wheels I liked a little better & sold the Forgestars. The buyer was a fellow 996 fan out of KY. I wonder if you've got my wheels?

This...
They just look like a smaller wheel and you tried to make it fit... they don't match the styling at all, I can't imagine it looking good on a GT3 either.
The F14 looks FAR superior in my opinion.
