My nice 996 Turbo is essentially too valuable for me to drive anymore so I bought a high mileage one to drive.

Once they get this old and are maintained/refreshed, values don't seem to be impacted as much. These are timeless cars, every iteration.

2001 Midnight Blue with GT2 kit, 72k miles, $68k looks pretty stock:

Agree... Nice looking car, nice upgrades, looks freshly serviced. If I was looking for another 996 Turbo coupe, this one would be on the short list.

I suspect the GT2 badging is confusing to those who don't know and a bit of a turn-off to those that do, easy enough to rectify. Would already be done if it was mine to sell.

Exactly why I'm after higher mile cars with good maintenance history. I want to be able to drives these without mileage depreciation anxiety.

If you guys would actually drive the low mile ones then you wouldn't have to worry as they get more miles on em. I never understand this mentality. Life is so short, what are we saving stuff for, and for who?

Completely agree! I have 70K+ on each of the two 996 Turbos and 60K+ on the 991 Turbo.... Now not all of those miles where put on by me of course, but plenty where and I give zero fks how the mileage will affect future value, but enjoy the smiles each of those additional miles brings me.

When cared for, even when driven, mileage won't have much of an impact after a certain threshold (delivery miles? 5,000 miles? 10,000 miles?). Look at what 100,000-mile sorted 993s are going for as an indication, for example.

Of course, below some magic threshold, 3- and 4-digit mileage numbers add significant value.

I've only been buying Porsches for a few years now, and I drive them as much as possible while keeping my wallet open for maintenance. That's paid returns both financially and in enjoyment, which I don't bother to try and quantity.

That data point on the extreme right hand side of the chart, just below $40k is me. '02 turbo w 92k on the clock & a salvage title from 2013 50k miles ago. Had the advantage of other bidders is that I'd spent 2 hours inspecting it on a lift & I'd driven it. Parked next to my '99 C2

LS7 swapped? Those generally pull low numbers. I believe one just sold in the 30s on BAT, I shoulda bid.

That's it on the right. The C2 on the left has a LS3.

Nice work, how does it handle with that V8 in the back?

Lol, the second to highest sale here was my 2005 Turbo S cab in midnight blue over natural brown...hell of a car! There's a white 05 TTS cab that I bet does the same or a little more coming up now as well.

Just picked it up a couple weeks ago and drove it 2 hours home. Cold weather & old summer tires so drove it gingerly--so not much road time yet. This one needs a bit of sorting; just fixed all the coolant leaks, new battery and making a list of wants & needs. It's sneezing blow-by oil out the intake so next thing is a catch can. Needs an alignment & powersteering fixed. There's a circus of dashboard lights that need to be sorted out.

The C2 parked next to it has a crate LS3 that is smaller & lighter than the M96 it replaced. Picked it up last year, fresh suspension, shift kit, fresh gearbox, LS tune-- I've got it pretty dialed in. Handles predictably, albeit stiff -lowered w Bilsteins B6 & Eibach kit.
The LS7 is a wet sump so should weigh in about the same as the LS3; the "turbo" drivetrain has been converted to RWD so we're probably a couple hundred pounds less than a stock 996tt. Right now it feels a bit squirrelly compared to the C2 but it's got coilovers and adjustable bits. Will see what needs to be freshened.

I've always wanted something with an LS7 in it; that should be pretty entertaining when sorted.

My perception is that with these LS swaps into something like a Porsche, is that it's kind of a perpetual project and they are virtually never completely sorted... Nothing wrong with that if you go into it with the right expectations as a hobby car.
