Default Meth injection system HP increase ?

As Title, does anyone have a good idea of %increase in HP by adding a 50/50 meth/Water injection system to a modded Turbo ? Just curious really.

Thanks

Depends on how much timing is being pulled now, or how much timing you can put in it after the meth install. . If the tune is conservative now and isn’t pulling timing, all you are going to see is lower intake temps. I use it as a bandaid for not being able to control intake temps.

You can tune for the meth injection and get more power, but if it fails to inject , there may be problems.

This is the same question as “ how much power can I make if I put 110 octane gas in my car”? None if your car doesn’t need or can use it.

Here's some numbers from my 997.1TT 3.8L with XR1000 turbo's. This is what meth is capable of ....... if specifically tuning for it. My tune is not very aggressive either- it's pretty safe and conservative. These numbers are at the wheels. This is using 91 octane west coast USA supreme pump fuel.

-XR1000 91 pump (NO METH): 687 HP/654 ft-lbs

-XR1000 91 + meth: 800hp/776ft-lbs. This tune was a bit aggressive so it was dialed back a bit so as to not lean on Meth so much. See next line.
-XR1000 91 + meth FINAL street tune: 750hp/750 ft-lbs.

Thanks Keith, a good improvement while helping with cooling at the same time. Sounds like a great fun car.

But, like nitrous, only as good as tank size dictates.

What size nozzles do you run?

Water / meth increases hp only if your current tune pulls timing or you spray before the IAT sensor and not pull timing because of unsufficient intercooling. If you add water / meth to a non knock limited engine and do nothing, you actually loose horse power.

You benefit most when you tune for the water / meth, so essentially add timing as in using race gas. But if you run out of the juice or clog the injector, you are in a lot of trouble as you are running too much timing and not spraying water / meth so you can melt your engine very easy this way. Most aftermarket ecus can use fail safe systems and add the additional timing only when you are spraying the juice making it more safe to use.

I would use E85 instead of water / meth if E85 is available. I used to run water meth in my Supra but when E85 became available there was no need for the water meth injection as E85 is essentially race gas and you can run all the timing you need.

I'm actually not sure what the nozzle sizes are. Sam Ahdoot at ByDesign set the whole system up for me. I don't believe they are on the large end of the spectrum though. A 2 gallon tank lasts me a very long time- like 5 or 6 tanks worth of fuel. But obviously that is influenced by my driving too. I drive the car to work a couple days a week and I'm not always on boost......
