Default Bilstein PSS10 Install - "Clunk" in front

I installed a PSS10 and when I now turn the front wheels I can hear a loud "clunk", it sounds like the springs or under a lot of pressure and they bounce back. Anyone had this happen before? I checked everything now 3 times, all bolts and so on a very tight, nothing loose, car runs fine, just when I turn the wheels from the left to right or take a tight turn like getting into and out of a parking spot I can hear it.

Have you checked the sway bar links? Mine required re-torquing a few times.

I had that with my Öhlins kit, near side.
I think that the spring was, for some reason, snapping through lack of smooth rotation. In a McPherson strut, the spring needs to rotate, that's why it has a bearing on top and I think it wasn't doing that all the way until it suddenly snapped and did the clunking.
Raised the car, relieved the pressure on the spring, rotated it 90º. Job done. I guess the spring wasn't happy in the position it was or, it had nothing to do with that and just by wiggling things as I ended up doing, the parts (top bearing, supports, spacers, etc) fitted correctly.

Did you re-use the OEM upper strut thrust washer when it was installed?

Which washer is this? I followed the installation instructions and the guidance I found here: https://www.rmeuropean.com/porsche-9...n-Install.aspx

I know this was an issue for PSS9's, not sure about PSS10's, but if you search PSS9 Boing you can read all about it.

So reading up a bit more it looks like that is my problem, question is now which parts I need, is it only the washer or do I need the parts 9, 10 and 11 in the diagram?

When I did my PSS9s I used...
#11: 996-343-501-00-M10 <-- This is the bearing that allows the spring to rotate.
#10: 996-343-523-00-M100 (only if it is damaged... I ended up cleaning and re-using mine.

@wross996tt are you talking about this guy or this guy...

Some pics of my old gross shock top bearing in case it's helpful.

2004 996 PSS10s for several years now no issues

:Love them

Paid a high end alignment shop to do install and GT3 ride height and alignment so didnt see how the install went.

Haven heard anything like this on the boards so as others have said double check install instructions and torque specs

Good luck
