Is this salvaged 996 a real GT2 or a clone?
Hey guys, just saw this sell at the salvage auction.
I was trying to figure out if it was a real GT2 or not. It sold for pretty cheap but wasn't convinced it real and not a clone. The main thing that threw me off was the lack of ceramic brakes.
Hoping it was a clone since I'm having non-buyers remorse at the moment.

Real GT2 has no rear wiper or hole where the wiper goes, I think I see something sticking out there, pics are blurry though.

Not real - it would have PCCBs if it were...

I also doubt someone would replace the door sills with Turbo labeled sills.
Edit: and did the GT2 come with back seats? I don't think so.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone took the PCCBs off to track the car. That's why I was curious about it.
Happy I confirmed it because I was going to be bothered all day!

It's a 2001, not even an X50 . . .

if they change out the pccbs they usually leave the calipers and just change out the disks

Also, GT2 didn't exist yet in 2001.

Actually, I think they were an option at least in Europe

There is something very odd about this car. The pictured VIN in the listing doesn't match any Porsche at VIN Analytics.

VIN is not GT2...very easy to tell a GT VIN from a normal 911

I'll never understand why anyone would badge their 996 Turbo as a GT2.
