Recalls are expensive, the costs will be pushed to the consumer.

Maybe, but sometimes companies just do a little price gouging when they think they can get away it. There is quite a bit of that going on these days.

This price hike puts a bad taste in my mouth. They fixed their broken product with a camber plate, pass that $500 cost on to the consumer, and then proceed to cite inflation for an additional 15% cost increase? Ohlins is acting like they have released a new and improved product but it sounds like they've really just fixed the previously broken one and started charging more.

This is them literally passing along their cost to us now. I will not be buying them. Probably will go with Bilstein PSS10 due to great experience with them on my RS5 in the past or with JRZ. KW worries me because I hear their customer service in the case of a broken shock is terrible.

It could be. But then again, unless you've been living under a rock, or you're new to Earth, everything is more expensive today than it was last year. And why would the KW break? They are great, and should you need a rebuild (other than having to send them out) I've never heard of issues.

Are you running your kw’s now? I recall you had them set aside for a while... I can’t decide if I should shell out for the revised Ohlins at $4200, get the KWs, or just get the PSS10.

Yes, been installed for a few years now. Car feels amazing, no complaints.

can't go wrong with either Ohlins or KW, direct competitors and top grade. That said, if you have issues with either, Ohlins has better customer service in N.A. vs KW in my experience..the Ohlins USA guys are awesome

Thanks for the reply, I see some folks got these on their recall exchange units perhaps ohlins and elephant racing making things right for customers. I'm wondering if that's the case today. I read their installation manual from the global site and couldn't find a lick of information in there.

There is a pair of front mounts listed as uniball mounts. Doesn't show the face of it or instructions to adjust them.

I sent an email hopefully get up to date information. If I do I'll update here. In the meantime if anyone has purchased these recently can chime in would be appreciated

It was my case, I received new front dampers and 2 Elephant front mounts.

In a Ohlins spares part price list I just saw, the mounts in the kit come referenced like this:

05927-51 Front top mount, Porsche 996/997 4S/Turbo, Elephant, front, set, 710,30 €

So, they come identified as Elephant. The photos in the manual are also showing Elephant units.

Yes the elephant racing adjustable top mounts come standard with Ohlin’s kit if purchased today.

Thanks guys, I'm probably going to wait for ohlins to confirm as well because it does say they can change the specs at any time. But it seems the elephant racing mounts are the current setup. I checked the recall instructions and the part number is the same as in the coilovers installation instructions.

In the recall install instructions the mounts are more evident. I attached a screen shot from both instructions.
