So there’s no permanent way to get rid of them right? Or even close to permanent? I’m just so tired of them that I think I would be willing to drop the engine to alleviate this bastard of a issue. I know the answer already but just venting to how much I hate them.

Sorry, unsure of the backstory here.

 

Not much of a back story so to speak. I think I have a boost leak which is setting my idle to go high. It’s nothing drastic. Just venting to how much I hate them and want them to not be a thing (which I know is just part of the game of having one of these cars)

I tried venting to my wife and she looked like I had 4 heads, so next best place is the forums

 

i think of it as all "part of the joy".

as i am about to embark upon a hide and seek pressure testing vac leak search myself lol.

but i've made it a few years since my last occurrence, so you know.. it's time.

idle fluctuations for me have always ben a bad maf. every single time. but yeah. leaks.

 

Got it. Yea, car issues suck.

Could also be your throttle body is dirty. Have you tried removing the Y pipe and spraying some cleaner in there?

 

It's never been an ongoing issue with my Turbo.

 

High idle limits the search to a vacuum leak. Spraying with a combustible carb cleaner is good way to locate this with out needing to take anything apart. I have had my car for 69k miles and every boost leak I have identified was self induced from not tightening something. Get a durametric and do some diagnostics. Even if you don’t identify the issue you will feel like a pro for a while

 

The car has a Mafless tune. Last time I had this happen it was one of the boots on the intake manifold that became loose. It’s just par for the course as these cars age.
