Default Exhaust video compilations

as soon as i bought the car, i knew my first mod was going to be an exhaust. however with the many brands and combinations available i was starting to get overwhelmed. there were many unknowns and my car serves as a nice weather car that i usually take with my family. it would be different if it was a track only car, i'd just run dump pipes off the turbo. so my big ticket items: does it drone at highway speed, what's included when you order, will i get a check engine light if i do test pipes without a custom tune, how much louder is it vs stock? if the exhaust was too loud or droney, my wife would kill me and the kids will complain they can't hear the music. i also have tinnitus and long periods of drone at a certain frequency gives me headaches. unless you are able to sit in another car with the same exhaust setup it's hard to decide. (granted the video mics can't fully replicate how it sounds in real life, but at least there is some sort of idea.

not sure if there is a repository of exhaust compliations, but perhaps this can be the one stop thread for all exhausts.

In your repository you need audio from inside the car versus outside the car to aid in answering those questions.

And if you have tinnitus then drone shouldn't be your only concern. The dB produced by the exhaust is also important.

In the end, IMO, the only way to really nail down what one thinks about an aftermarket exhaust is to experience it sitting in the car and running through different engine RPMs on the road. Without that then in-car audio and owner feedback are the next best things.

A video from in the car at different highway RPMs to assess drone would be helpful too.

Windows up, and yes, once I have a chance to get out on the highway, I will make another one.

The cold start sound of my Europipe Stage 2 Loud isn't representative of what the exhaust sounds like on start and idle when it is warm.

I would agree with that statement - is that is the air pump choking the engine? Goes away pretty quick.

I don't think so. My cold start/idle sound remains after the air pump shuts off.

My cold start sound goes away pretty quickly once I start driving.

I also find that, as the ambient air temp rises, the cold start sequence is much shorter.
