Faded caliper paint almost always means track driving, and quite a bit of it.

+1. The wheels look horrible, and in my view the choice of oversized tacky wheels is the telltale sign of someone who'll do other kind of dodgy crap. I'd stay far away.

I was wondering the same thing on the lhd cars worth more thing. Here in nz the rhd cars are worth way more. I did read that in Japan people like the lhd thing as as a status symbol or something. Read that on here somewhere.

To add my 2 cents as well, I've never driven a manual 911 or even been in one but there is no way I could imagine spending an extra 20k for the exact same car with a different gearbox!

Thanks a lot Rennlisters. This is the type of feedback a sucker for basket cases needs.
Supposedly the owner of the dealer is the PO.
Your collective eye saw what I didn't but did feel, that this car had been driven hard without the maintenance to go with it.

BTW, to know if a Porsche had been on a track, take a look at the calipers, the PORSCHE script will be brownish. If they're bright white, it's a sign it's been driven more gently...or that the calipers have been redone.
Let us know if you find another 996tt!
