Not at all. A quality set of cores work well in all situations. Stock stuff is junk in comparison.

So driving around town not exceeding 4000 RPM or dipping into any boost?

You can always just crush dry ice and dump them into your side inlets and for a few minutes you turn junk into supercooled intercoolers.

Yes, even stationary, they are like heat sinks. If you log IAT you'll see. Good cores make a big difference, air is always going through them.

But it makes no difference if there is enough power remaining under the accelerator to accomplish the desired acceleration rate.

I thought ata ics only when air runs through the cooling fins? I mean it only makes sense that ata ics work only when the car is in motion and only get better with speed. So it doesnt matter how good or how big or how much flow your super duper intercoolers if youre going 15mph through a school zone. Intercoolers only work if enoigh air is flowing through the cooling element.

I don't think anyone's trying to convince you to upgrade if you don't think it's worth it for your use. But as has been mentioned, there isn't much downside to cooler intake temps.

What are you trying to argue, Dock?

I think that's true for any mod. But like forged wheels or high quality catalysts, it's rare to find upgrades where the only engineering downside is cost.

People are obviously free to (generally) spend money on whatever they want. The thread starter is wondering if intercoolers are worth the cost.

Is it cool with you if those of us interested in upgrading discuss the topic?

I would still love to buy you lunch, I just don't see why we can't discuss the topic.

Intercoolers are worth the cost; arguing with dock is not. Just ignore him since he'll pick apart everything you say no matter what.

Make sure to pressure check them often once you get them in. My new ones started leaking at 6k miles, they did not leak at 3k miles. I have not had the chance to take them apart to attempt to reseal them.

For a street driven car, I doubt intercoolers are worth the money spent. For a track driven car, definitely.
