One billion hours lol. Trying to figure out the best way and most efficient way for the install. Going to be taking lots of pictures.

Hopefully I’ll have and update come June (I’m getting married soon and my fiancé would kill me if I made this a priority lol)

I feel we are close. Matt at GT is the man to thank for this.

That’s a question I’m trying to figure out. I need to have another chat with Matt and pick his brain. I also need to start diving into the donor TIP to get measurements and just general knowledge on its inner workings. I want to take as many pics as possible and write up an unofficial DIY guide. Inbetween this I will install the GT TBD into my car and give Matt feedback and if everything fits like I expect it will, start driving the car and provide more feedback. I’m assuming all of this will take a couple of months but I’m hopefully Ill be able to have news for the group by June/July.

Yes, it all seems to take time. This is going to be pretty cool to see once the results are in.

Luckily you don't need to take the actual transmission apart as that's a nightmare.
The diff cover is right there so it should be easy to take the diff out.

Update time! I’ve been MIA, work has been beyond busy and prepping for a wedding and finishing up a remodel here at the house, well I think I overdid it lol.

Did wrap up all of the suspension rework on the car, old bushings were beyond gone. This week the car developed the stupid radiator leak everyone seems to get but I’ll take care of that when I put the car back up to prep it for the motor to come out. (Anyone know where I can get a good deal on CSF rads?)

If all goes well, TBD will be in the car by the end of June and hopefully it all goes well so Matt at Guard can start selling these!

I had the same issue with the rads, the CSF units have been flawless.

Thanks for the update, cannot wait to see it work, should change the game for the tip guys.

Been playing around with the scrap tip that was donated. I must say the diff is super easy to access and remove. Next step is to do it in the car without removing the engine. Initial pass looks like it will be tight but possible.

It’s just too tight to try and remove the diff. I mean I kinda knew that but I was hoping. Next step is to drop the rear subframe, just the passenger side, that should provide enough clearance to unbolt the diff cover, pop out the OE diff and install the TBD.

I feel this still keeps this a weekend project for all those DIYs. I’ll take off the rear subframe next weekend or the weekend after that.

What's your plan for setting up the ring/pinion mesh?

Honestly I haven’t given it much thought (thinking… worry about that when I get there) but my plan was to reach out to Matt and talk to a local shop that does custom and race car diff setups. This is the shop that is helping me with the bearings and ring gear. I have been reading a ton on this and it doesn’t look like it’s too difficult to figure out. One of the better articles that I’ve read to help me understand is this one:
