So.... Anyone tried sealing up the gap in the plastic trim with weatherseal and able to tell the difference?

Not me.

If my EVOMS modified 996 Turbo is down a bit of power based on engine compartment hot air making it into the air box intake in the rear lid (I don't think this is happening at a level that could even be measured) I don't think fixing the problem would produce any SOTP difference in the street "driving experience" I have in my Turbo.

The fan pulls air from outside and pushes air down, when ur moving the air from under the car pulls even more air down and creates more vacuum, the high speed fan can move a lot more air than you think at full speed. Theres a very miniscule amount of hot air being sucked in that tiny slit espescially at speed.
Our cars dont have engine underwear for that reason.

If you're really worried just get some black gorilla tape and close that hole up. That stuff is riduculously strong and sticky.

People tape everything on high speed runs.
You won't see it anyway

If I did that to my car I'd see it every time I opened the rear lid.

Then dont lol.
The guy is thinking about putting weather seal which is a terrible idea as that stuff will come flying off into the engine or worse, melt.

He's asking about this because he's concerned about the potential for warm/hot air being ingested by the engine through the deck lid opening during high speed runs?

That was directed at being able to see the tape and you not him.

Well, because IMO it would be unsightly, and I imagine that there are more here besides me that wouldn't want to look in their engine compartment and see something that looks like MacGyver had been working in there.

Additionally, I'd think that if you wanted to remove the Gorilla Tape it might leave adhesive that could require some work to remove, especially after being baked on by engine heat.

When I did the 997 ICs the power increase was noticeable, all else being the same.
Big bang for the buck.
