Default Took the plunge...

And bought this today:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-996...gAAOSw2opbwTd5

Am wondering, is it possible to buy a new airbag/horn cover without the airbag at $1600USD?

I think new wheel needs new horn/airbag cover...

Cheers,

Congrats, you will love it if it actually gets delivered. Lots of folks have had to wait months to either get products they ordered from DCTW or finally bail and seek refunds for unfilled orders. I personally fall in the latter category. Paid a 50% deposit for a wheel, no communication for two months, and then finally sought and obtained a refund through PayPal. Many threads about this vendor in the forums.

Bought it off Ebay, shipped this morning. So you never got to the airbag/cover point?

Saw the supplier's name on the eBay listing and immediately became concerned for your financial well-being.

I've never seen the cover sold separately; others may know of a source.

Nice wheel. I am pretty sure air bag covers are not available as a separate item. They are an integrated part of the air bag system.

Thank you Sir, appreciated - if it ain't what it says, I'll have my purchaser send it back.

I found an airbag on Pelican - $1600, includes the cover...

the t96 wheel is a complete wheel made in house as a stock item. its not a custom unit like most of ivans wheels . dct has a huge amount of cars they do wheels for and its a small shop. even if it takes longer than usual theres no worry you will get one of the best wheels on the market. a close friend of mine does all the paddle conversions for dct.

Will the stock steering wheel airbag fit in that smaller diameter steering wheel?

Yes, my airbag fit perfectly when I installed in my DCT T96 paddle-shifter steering wheel (purchased used after non-delivery of ordered wheel).

I'm debating whether there's any point to keeping the factory carbon fiber steering wheel (tip) or selling it. I can't imagine anyone would want to go backwards from the paddle shifters to the stock "thumb" controls. Of course, not an issue for those with manual transmissions.

I wonder if the steering wheel's "smaller diameter" is vertically, given the flat bottom?

Do you know what the left/right diameter of the steering wheel is?

No, but it's easy enough to measure. If I get a chance, I'll measure mine tonight.

Overall diameter reduce from OEM 14” ¾ to 13” 1/2 (top to bottom) and 14” 1/8 (left to right)
Overall thickness (circumference) increase from OEM 4” 1/8 to 4” 7/8

from dct

That was my understanding, it would. However, when I started to look for the cover, I am only now realizing I will have a sexy new wheel, with a 16 year old horn/bag cover...

I thought this one was the same as yours Dock?
