Default Mini Cats on Exhaust, CEL?

Looking to get an exhaust as my first upgrade.

Based on Youtube videos, leaning towards catless systems, but from my understanding this would thow a CEL.

Do the 90 degree "mini-cats" like what Soul & Fabspeed sell actually help prevent CELs? If so, did they last? Have read that many of these only work for a short period of time before CEL turns on.
Can these pass SMOG (I live in GA where they basically just plug car to computer, no real visual inspection)?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, they should work fine. An extender would do the same. Sometimes they may trip a CEL. Not a big deal.

90 degree mini cats? My Soul Performance exhaust has full sized HJS 200 cell cats, definitely not "mini cats". No CEL on my car with the Soul Performance exhaust.

So HJS cats is Plan B. From my understanding this is the safest route.

Did you get car tuned? If so, who did the tune?

The "mini-cats" I was talking about are http://soulpp.com/product/universal-...tic-converter/

Based on feedback, might not be worth the hassle and I should just get HJS 200.

You're thinking of something diff. He's asking for o2 anti-foulers, some come with mini cats.

always under the impression the "mini cats" were to "trick" the 02' sensors while running catless? Its been many years so memory of them briefly is hazy. and they were also called bung extenders(?) if thats the same, they didn't work for me with a kline running decat pipes.

Exactly. They can program it to not throw a CEL for the lack of cats.

LOL, guess so. Asked around and for my needs cat's are in my future. Love the sound of catless, but I drive a lot in traffic and with wife in the car she might not appreciate the "additional gasses".
