Default Cut 100 Cell Cats into OEM TT exhaust

so this is my plan, I have bought 100 cell cats from FVD (circa $600) and will have a specialist TIG welder cut into the OEM cats and replace the originals with these. Am I nuts ? anybody done this and can give guidance ?
Just that on my 996 cab it was the cats rather than the exhaust change which gave the extra performance ?

Nope your not nuts, it will gain you some performance and more importantly reduce lag. You are basically making your own RUF exhaust. They exhaust is very similar to stock with racing cats (either 100 or 200 cel can't remeber). The only down sides to not switching to an aftermarket can is you will not save any wieght and you will miss out on some of the power. Turbo cars do gain a good chunk of power out of exhausts unlinke the naturally aspirated cars. Otherwise sounds good to me...I would be interested to hear how it turns out.
Regards,
Evan
BTW-I work for FVD USA, thanks for buying our product

Are the 100 cell cats the same length as OEM? I have a Fabiani exhaust with 100 cell cats and the racing cats seem to be longer than the ones built into the mufflers.

There are several size of cats. They can be ordered any way you want. Simple depends on the requirements. We have tested these setups and they work well for lower level programs. The system becomes more restrictive the higher the HP level.

How does removing the stock second cat and leaving the stock first cat compare to using a 100 cell catalyst?

First cat is the one you see - located near engine for quicker warm up for decreased emissions . Second cat is inside the main exhaust. In most cars with two serial cats, the front one is the " pup " cat for cold start emissions and the second one is the " main " cat . Many cars engineered before 2000 had to add a " pup" cat as a quick way to meet LEV emissions regs that started in 2000 , like the Modena, Boxster, Corvette.
