Markus and I bought 4 sets of these doors together. Same deal. One set is for my car and a spare set on hand in case I need one.

That's a very good point.
Do you know whether the stock design is incapable of preventing pre-detonation with 93 octane gas? If it is incapable, then a modification would be beneficial from this standpoint. If it's capable across ambient temperatures that can reasonably be expected, then it doesn't serve a big purpose.

Larger intercoolers and/or more air allows the intercooler to remove more heat from the air. Possible disadvantage is an intercooler with a larger volume can introduce additional turbo lag. Better same volume intercooler should have a better fin system and allow more air through it.
