I don't think people don't realize how much difference there is between a 996TT and the GT2 cars. When you change out one thing, it literally necessitates the changing out of another 15 associated items downstream. Virtually everything is different outside the shared items like the actual tub, headlight, taillights, mirrors, hood, side and rear glass and a few other bits and pieces. Besides the obvious different cosmetic items like bumpers and wing, it's a different fuel tank, fuel lines, brake lines, coolant lines, ABS, instrument cluster, brake booster, wheel carriers, brake rotors, shocks, transmission, clutch, etc, etc. You might as well strip the car to the tub and start fresh to do an accurate replica from a drivetrain / mechanical standpoint.

I get it, there's lots of little differences. My point was/is, it's $12-15k if you want to change the tank. I'm sure that's with ancillaries. The point is, you really have to want to do it. Not a lot of reward for the $$$ spent.

I most certainly didn't for a fuel tank swap.

Start the parts collection now as you never now what is available and what isn't at any particular time. The tank mod will also drive you to a requirement for a GT2 cluster which will drive you to a requirement for a GT2 ABS unit with and all the associated brackets, reservoir, booster, etc. It's a snowball rolling downhill as you undoubtedly know. Anyway, the car is looking gorgeous Noah. It's a very cool project. Enjoy it in good health!
Right on John, chasing down the parts took a ton of time between all the wiring, abs, hard lines, cluster 😉 is definitely not for the feint of heart. Having a reasonably firm plan in place and willing to wait some times for those special pieces to show up is part of the enjoyment.

Pretty sure I have just about everything now, definitely took a good amount of time for all the hard lines.

Obviously it will never be a real GT2, but is more of how I would build one if per se had access to a special wishes program back when they came out.

The double edge sword of having money is you usually don't have time unless you cash out ...OR you have a business that is entirely hands off and it runs itself.

If I has this kinda coin i'd probably just get a GT2!

It has been a solid unit from the prior owner, I have a Continental incoming that will go really nicely with the center console delete.
