Oil Level....
So i got an Oil change and have put about 4k miles. Is this normal for turbo cars? I had a 996 non turbo before and id go 7-8k miles and id only lose 2-3 bars.

Check for unusual dripping. I though I was using excessive oil, but it turned out one of the turbo drain plugs was weeping. Oddly enough, it got loosened when I lightly bottomed out and tapped my garage concrete (we currently have a significant drop-off until the new driveway gets poured.)

The oil level after oil change was all full bars. I dont see any leaks on my garage floor. On start up, i see cloud of smokes, not every single start up but it has happened about 20 ish times in the 4k miles after oil change. But i do daily drive my car if that makes a difference.

If I recall correctly, the distance between the upper and lower limits illustrated there is 1.25 liters, (quart and a third). All turbos burn oil. I'd top it off and not worry about it.

My understanding is each bar = 1/4 quart. A little over one quart in 4K miles might be normal, mine uses close to that @ 56,000 miles, no smoke, runs fine, etc. Is it real hot where you live? Stop and go driving?

Oil consumption is on a mileage curve. The more miles that you put on the oil, the higher the consumption. If you are running 0W40, at around 3500 miles the oil gets thinner (it's sheering heat and mechanical blender), oil consumption increases.
Your makeup oil can be a 5W50 to counter this. You can also change your oil sooner. The factory tech data on this engine states One Quart per 800 miles is acceptable. I average one quart per 1200 miles with my foot in "it"

Thank you for all the helpful input.
I live in the Los Angeles/San Fernando Valley area where it was averaging 100 degree-up all of July and part of Aug.
I do drive my car 3-4 days a week, 50-60 miles round trip for work and on “occassion” i drive it hard...lol
I should know what oil is used but I trust my mechanic who i been going to for 3 yrs now. Next oil change, i will ask for the weight.
So basically the car needs a quart of oil. I thought bars indicates that im running on low oil.
Can we just go old school and have a dip stick? Lol
Again, thank you for the replies.

I check the oil level every time I drive the car, and add one quart when the oil level indicates one bar above the minimum line.
The difference between the min. and max. marks on the display is approximately 1.6 quarts (1.5 liters), and one segment on the display corresponds to a quantity of approximately 0.26 quart (0.25 liter).

Since I changed to 5W50 some years ago, my car no longer "uses" oil. I typically do not need to add oil between changes.
Now I likely do not drive the car as hard as others here...LOL

4000 miles for a quart is great! Consider yourself lucky. I'm currently about 1 quart per 3000 miles. I thought I was doing well. My tt has 90000+- miles. I track oil consumption very religiously. I have done 7500 oil changers since I purchased the car at 49000 miles.
I don't want to start another, "what oil to use" thread, but after the first oil change, I have used mobil 1 turbo diesel truck oil.
