Default Saw 1.0 BAR Boost in my stock X50

Guys,

This weekend while enjoying a fun drive in the fabulous front range, 14,000 foot peaks in distance, I saw my X50 hit 1.0 BAR...I do have a Fabspeed, but that is it....As I understand the car is set to a max of .9 BAR, so I am wondering how that happened????? Could the less restrictive exhaust and cats allow the turbos to spool more freely and thus produce more boost? Rocket scientists weigh in please

I am guessing it is cold where you are?? The colder the better for forced induction cars (IE: Porsche Turbo). My bar has increased .1-.2 since the cooler weather here in FL, so this would be my explination, but not sure...

Lesss back pressure does indeed mean more boost...Colder air is also denser which helps a bit but the big thans is to those 100 cell cats
Fabspeeds are great power gainers

It is my understanding that the X-50's can see a spike of 1.1 bar while the non X-50's spike at .9.

FWIW

While driving near Telluride at 11,000 ft., I would see spikes of 1.0 on my standard '03 TT. I think that what you're seeing is the effect of low atmospheric pressure at altitude. The absolute discharge pressure of the turbos was 1.0 x the lower atmospheric pressure the intake was seeing. The absolute pressure may actually have been lower than experienced when the gauge reads .9 at sea level. It all depends upon the derate of the turbo system.

Cheers,

JP,

This is induced brain haze from acceleration, normally found on 993tt's only. It will pass will time as the grey cells move from your former M5 to tt time. Really.

Glad you found us...................................................................... ...........
