That needs to go back to the shop. Broken parts and glue is not acceptable. I have split the plastic covers dozens of times never had any breakage

Agreed, that’s poor quality. Now they need to buy you a new mirror.

I've emailed the company twice, last night and today at around noon. No reply from them...

That's not acceptable and feel bad as I had a good experience with them and gave them a positive review. I wouldn't be surprised if its not your mirror and they sent one that was ready to go. Hopefully they will make it right. A lot of people on other car forums have had good luck with them also?

I went with them because the reviews were good.

I'm going to call Scott (the owner).

I talked to Scott the owner and he said my mirror showed up this way, and that the damage was caused by the internal fluid melting the plastic. There was no leakage when I shipped the mirror, and I fully understand that it could have leaked enroute, but I don't see the damage as being the result of melting. There are gouge marks in the plastic.

I'm just going to buy a new mirror.

It's his word that it showed up that way, and even though it doesn't look like melting I don't think I can hold him to a new mirror or refund, although he offered.

That's good of you, I would wash my hands of it too and forget it. It is commendable of him to offer refund etc.

I’d press for the refund, and send back the damaged one so he can offer it to somebody else. Everybody wins that way.

I appreciate that, but I have no way of proving him wrong. I'm not going to ask for a refund when there is a possibility that he is right. If the mirror did in fact leak, and the leakage caused that damage, then it's not his fault and he owes me nothing.

As we used to say at my two previous jobs "Some days you get the bear, and some days the bear gets you".

Such is life..

So they appear to be gouge marks to you too?

I told him that it would be difficult to have those marks just from melting. I think it would take some very strong acid to melt the hard plastic frame. Maybe it IS that strong, but the chemical melting I've see over the years has never left gouge marks.

When mine leaked it created a sticky drop that landed on my shifter. After about an hour it hardened like a rock. That’s gouge damage, not fluid damage. Unless it did harden and it was scraped off. Hard to tell. Even so gravity would dictate drip coming from bottom of mirror not top. Unless fluid dripped while shipping. Where is Columbo when you need him!?

The mirror leaked while being shipped to him. He said the gouge marks were the result of them attempting to clean up the mirror.

My bad luck.

Time for a new mirror.
