Thanks everyone.

I finally figured out the noise. I knew it was coming from the strut but, I mis-diagnosed and changed the strut hat and bearing.

There's a nut and screw at the bottom of the strut. The nut somehow backed off and there's where the noise came. I held the screw and tighten up the nut and no more play at the bottom of strut resulting in no more noise.

Glad you got it figured out! On the plus side, you now know the front strut assembly quite well!
