Does it make a big difference? Well that’s all relative but it makes a difference:

27 pounds overall weight saving
Rotational mass saving
Unsprung weight saving

A general rule of thumb is; if you double the wheel savings weight that is how much dead weight on the car you'd have to remove to equal the savings of just lighter wheels.

So, why would you not get them if they are cheap?

No brainer.

Yes

the set is just 1/3 of the asked price of another hollow ones in HK and of my desired colour.

My car come with a 19" forgestar f14 set (just high pressure casted, not forged) and the driving experience may even be improved after this change.

May be i can remove the spare wheel, tire & tire pump etc. at the front to save this 27lbs and hk$ 10000😽
I see a long thread here arguing if the spare wheel is a structural design to reinforce the strength at thr front. As far as i can remember, the final answer is "No"

Where did the 27 pounds figure come from? I'm pretty sure you save < 2 lbs. total with the hollow twists. Also keep in mind that 2001's and GT2's don't have hollow spokes.

Incorrect.

I went back to check my records. My writing was not entirely accurate as I was writing from memory (clearly becoming an old senile fart). We measured weight differences at the track event whilst tyres were off two cars (during tyres change) one car running solids one hollows. Total saving according to our weighing is 24 pounds (rounded figure) as I didn’t write down ounces. Front solids came in at 27 pounds each whilst hollows came in at 22 pounds each. Rear solids came in at 33 pounds each whilst hollows came in at 26 pounds each.

GT2 uses solids because it uses wider rims and is not on turbo twists.

Also, there is a discussion on 6speed about weight saving on a 996 turbo and in a wheels section similar figures are stated.

Wow, that's much bigger than I remembered, thanks. I must have been thinking of the Sport Technos vs. hollows.
