It never ends....
Got the Turbo back with the factory rebuilt alternator installed. Been wanting to collect some battery voltage logs over time to post before and after logs. So far the only difference is the initial battery voltage is a bit closer to "14" volts on the guage and doesn't appear to drop off as much when I add electrical load like lights or turn on the A/C.
But my focus on collecting battery voltage logs has been distracted with a CEL on the way to work this AM. At work I used an Auto Xray to read the active/pending codes, freeze frame data, and then clear the code.
The code is a P0492. Secondary air injection blah blah blah bank 2.
I kind of remember coming across a reference to this error before in a tech's notes on the car and he did something to "fix" it. Time to dig through my files to refresh my memory.
In the meantime I'll continue to drive the Turbo while my Boxster is in for a P1128 error code. Thought this was nailed down the other day but it has come back, although in a different "flavor" now. Before the DME was "removing" fuel the long term fuel trims were negative. Now the DME appears to "addiing" fuel, the lo\ng term fuel trims are positive. This suggest an intake air leak. The intake was smoke tested and found leak free but the error only appears after a longish drive. A cold intake leak test just doesn't experience the intake warm to operating hot and that is when in the case of my Boxster I suspect it leaks.

Yes, probably diverter valves.

Macster, get a Mityvac and pull vacuum on the top port of each DV.. Simple test. And yes you can do it in your parking structure.. 10 minutes max..
Also, look at your "F" tube and any disconnected control lines that run behind the alternator.

Cleared the code and so far the code has not come back. Been driving the car around 60 miles per day work commuting as my Boxster has been in the shop with a P1128 code.
But I'll file the suggestions on what to look at if the code appears again.

I get the P0491 or P0492 in winter months only when temperature is in 30s. I clear it and it goes away. I have never seen it in warm weather.

A leaking diverter causes a P0492 error code? My info is it a secondary air system problem, well, not a problem problem more like a "glitch". The code has not come back since I have cleared the code and road tested the car.
This code appeared once before some several years back after the car was serviced. The CEL came on while the car was still in the service bay and the tech read the code and noted it on the work order then he cleared the code. When I picked up the car the tech mentioned the code to me and we talked about it and he said to bring the car back if the code appeared again I said I would but the code never put in another appearance until now.
Unless the code comes back again in less than a couple of years I'm not going to worry about it.
