Question 2002 w/Bose new HU adapter?

Hi All,
I've worn out my googling skills trying to find out what head unit wiring harness to purchase. I have a 2002 w/ Bose that I want to replace JUST the head unit and I want to keep the Bose Amp and speakers. I only have this connector the 70-1784. However because I have the bose audio don't I need the Metra 70-1787????

You would think that this would have been answered a million times on the boards, but I can't find a straight up for sure part number.

Thanks !!!!
Matt

Try over on the regular 996 (non-turbo) forum, it gets more traffic.

My aftermarket HU had speaker-level outputs, so my setup isn't the same is what you're trying to do.

On my 2002 with Bose without MOST, all I needed was the first wiring harness you mentioned. I ordered this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/EURO-MOTORS...item4b27bdf373

Just solder your aftermarket head unit wiring up to the adapter, then it's plug and play.

Actually I went back and looked, you need the blue and white remote turn-on from the second harness as well.

Pic is from before I covered everything in liquid tape.

Don't get hung up on keeping the stock Bose speakers - they suck. For small money you can replace them. I did with Alpine SPS-510 5.25" 2-way - the difference was night and day.

Problem is Bose speakers are 2ohm and most non OEM are 4 ohms. You need to replace all or you will have an imbalance of sound!

Some of the JBL GTO's are 2/3 ohm nominal. I'm running the GTO428's in the dash off the stock Bose amp (and the rest of the speakers still stock Bose, for now), and they work great.
