New owner
I just posted over in the 996 forum (w/my driving intro and some angst), thought I’d say hi over here too after a helpful pointer from there (you guys are well equipped with forums!). This is a bad photo of my just-acquired 2004 911 turbo cab. Any newbie pointers welcome. They’ve already told me to join PCA......

Welcome to the club, you chose wisely.
Some tips:
Dont drive in the rain with the top down.
Dont let people give you gruff about tiptronic
Get a radar detector
a/c vents blow foam on you
car will smoke on startup
these cars consume oil so keep an eye on levels
get some more photos up
people with mustangs will want to race
stock navigation system is outdated
enjoy yourself

The only advice I have is now that you own a Turbo you should no longer associate with the folks in the regular 996 section

The stock nav is outdated, not a touchscreen, cd based etc..
However it works well and updated (2015) cds are available. I bought a set from Annapolis Porsche for ~$250 which included software updates +cds.
Did you get the hardtop with it?

Notice your front lip is a Carrera 4wd version not the turbo version. If interested you can buy a turbo non OEM on ebay for under $100.

Thanks for the info - you have sharp eyes. The seller replaced it (was damaged in transit to him). I’m going to leave it as it’s been damaged slightly again already - by my husband, let me add (he was actually being careful).
We have very bad geometry on turn-in to road leading to our house - dip in asphalt followed by very very steep hill after turn. We’re going to have to go sideways.

I am also a cab owner:
- don't fold the soft top over night
- apply soft top cleaner & conditioner to it regularly
- let it dry thoroughly after rainy days ( i will drive another car if raining)
- Clean any bird's dropping with water immediately
- remember to take away all stuff stored at the pit behind the rear seats when you retreat the soft top

I have a question about finding a manual for it, and the spoiler warning light, over at the 996 forum if anybody wants to look, maybe I should have put it here. Not sure how strict you guys are about cross posting.
