Default Central Locking Disabled - Solved

So I got in my 996 TT today and the key seemed more difficult to turn in the ignition, at destination I could hardly get it out of the ignition and the car wouldnt lock either with the remote or the manual key. Got home even more difficult to remove the key from the ignition and changed the battery, everything ok again

I hate to say it, but I don’t think your problem is completely solved. It sounds like your ignition switch is about to go. Very common problem and fairly simple fix.

Yes, I would just replace the ignition switch before you end up stranded.

You have two options:
Porsche replacement that includes the whole assembly. You can probably install it yourself but it’s $700 (in Canada). Or you can source the corresponding Audi part for $25, and probably fix it yourself too. Don’t forget how to do it because you’re going to be doing it again in 5yrs
